Jeep Compass

  • The Jeep Compass is one of the most anticipated SUV launches this year. The Made-In-India SUV will be the most affordable product from the iconic American company when it is launched in India - which, according to our sources, should happen in the first week of August.

The first units of the Jeep Compass are already rolling out from FCA's (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra with demo units set to reach dealerships by the end of June. The right-hand-drive variants of the Jeep Compass will only be produced in India and exported to other right-hand-drive markets internationally.

      • Automaker Jeep is coming up with its most promising vehicle Jeep Compass. The production car is almost identical to the car that was showcased sometime last year.

The Jeep Compass gets a set of 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. The design is rugged and complements the overall stance of the car really well.

The fact that the designers have borrowed cues from the Grand Cherokee is evident given the overall profile of the car, but there are bits like the square plastic cladding on the wheel arches that sets the Compass apart.

Compass that is likely to be the most popular here is the 2.0-litre, MultiJet turbo-diesel which is capable of 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. To handle all this twist, Jeep has employed a six-speed manual and this is the combination you see here.
While the low-speed ride is absorptive of the large speed breakers and potholes, things only get better as you gather some speed.

        The numbers
        Diesel: 2.0-litre, 4cyl, 173bhp, 350Nm, 6-spd manual
        Petrol: 1.4-litre, 4cyl, 162bhp, 250Nm, 6-spd manual/7-spd auto

Jeep targets to make the Compass available to you in the range of Rs 20-25 lakh, which would make it very competitive.

The Compass has brilliant balance between good ride quality & handling. The price may be a bit higher.
